Wireless Mobility across Global Borders: Case Studies (Comprehensive Report)
Submission deadline: Monday, March 31, 2008

The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) is preparing to publish another volume in its series of comprehensive reports entitled Wireless Mobility across Global Borders. Your company is invited to contribute a white paper on a related topic for publication in this report.

There is a growing need now more than ever to extend Internet and other wireless services in all parts of the world, and consumers are now requiring global mobility to access multimedia services anytime and anywhere. Yet, current services used over the Internet are now deemed incompatible, if not unsatisfactory, by users who are always seeking better quality in Internet services. There are a number of efforts now underway to solve the growing needs of wireless users needing to access diverse applications at all places, and with the desired quality of service (QoS), speed, and bandwidth. At the same time, however, the power and capacity of mobility in wireless data technologies is bringing about global business opportunities for service providers, vendors, and investors. The global wireless market, together with Internet applications available at low rates, will ultimately create lead to a number of benefits for both for the industrial and governmental sectors. Now, how can Internet connections be established across the continents? What technologies and devices need to be established in order to meet the high consumer demand? What challenges have to be first addressed?

Global Mobility across Global Borders will explore the challenges and opportunities in enabling seamless, wireless communication across the globe, all in order to meet consumer and vendor demand. This comprehensive report will discuss case studies on newly burgeoning areas in south and south-east Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, and the Americas.

Topics to be addressed in this report include, but are not limited to, the following areas. If your group has a contribution in line with these subject areas, we invite you to submit your paper for possible publication:

  • Networking functionality
  • Connections and convergence
  • Compatibility and performance issues
  • Emerging technologies and devices
  • Provider and vendor roles
  • Economics and proposed solutions
  • Voice and data products and services
  • Business and real-life case issues
