Definition
There are numerous types of physical layer copper cross-connect equipment available in the market today. Their designs are based on various cross-point technologies, matrix types, and application needs. Cross-point technologies are the means by which the physical copper paths are connected and disconnected from one another. Matrix types are the manner in which cross-points are grouped and interconnected within the cross-connect.
