In an ideal IP world, where the end-to-end packet network has an IMS core, there is no ambiguity around IMS-all types of traffic use IP for transport and SIP as the control plane. However, when several networks (e.g., PSTN, CDMA, TDMA, WLAN, etc.) have to interconnect with the IP world, IMS starts to get fuzzy. Read more to find out why and possible directions forward.
