Next-Generation Service Provider Platforms: Lowering Costs, Shortening Time to Revenue and Adding Flexibility
G3
Service providers today are asking what infrastructure architecture will allow them to move forward successfully and flexibly in this very challenging competitive environment. The common requirements that emerge from large service providers are as follows:

  • Lower costs – Competitive pricing pressures mean that their next-generation architectures must be open with PC price performance curves and development cycles.
  • Shortened time to revenue – They require a frictionless platform that will allow them to offer the latest enterprise application as a managed service provisioned from the NOC without rolling out new hardware.
  • Flexibility – Their markets are evolving quickly; they don't necessarily know what services they will roll out next or how the pricing or even pricing models will evolve. Service providers need to be able to quickly adapt existing services and deliver new services leveraging enterprise applications without modifying that software to understand WAN protocols, load balancing, high availability, and multi-subscriber configurations and back-end OSS/BSS integration.

This workshop will describe the architectural choices that can lead to the optimal next-generation architectures for service providers.
