Pragmatic Approach to Developing IMS Services
E3
Communications service providers are looking at next-generation networks to provide attractive and revenue-generating new multimedia and converged services, blending Web 2.0 experiences to create social networks, user-generated content communities, and new channels for sharing multimedia content. IMS is often presented as the solution for service providers to achieve these objectives, but recent deployment of IMS has slowed as questions about business viability are raised.
This workshop will present how the same objectives that initially motivated the deployment of IMS can be achieved with a pragmatic, incremental approach that may be more viable to businesses while allowing service providers to offer IMS-like services immediately. Applications and services case studies from BT and Korea Telecom Freetel will be presented along with the showcasing of applications that utilize a standards-based service delivery platform.
