One World, Two Markets: Strategies for Reaching Voice and Data Subscribers in Mature and Developing Regions
E5

In this presentation, the speaker will examine how the overriding marketing challenge for mobile operators today is to address location distinctions within a one-world approach:

  • Metropolitan areas characterized by masses of people living in close quarters-a high percentage located indoors-and demand for throughput and performance
  • Rural areas characterized by broadly dispersed population groupings and a maximum demand on coverage, requiring ultra-wide-range cell sites to reduce CAPEX investment

The speaker will discuss current real-world examples of how mobile operators are tackling these location distinctions while implementing a unified, common platform approach to voice and data WiMAX services. How various antenna technology help operator to provide effective WiMAX coverage for CAPEX saving and providing high-speed data services to both rural and metropolitan constituencies.
