Next-Generation Gaming Business Models — Monetizing Advertainment
B2

Broadband service providers are launching myriad services in hopes of increasing the generated ARPU while minimizing setup costs. One of the ways they are minimizing setup costs and increasing the ARPU is by offering on-demand gaming services via monthly subscriptions. In order to decrease churn, free ad-supported content is also a viable option. With the advantage of high-speed Internet connections, a gaming service can be offered as part of bundled package, giving broadband service providers a high-margin source of additional income.

This session will discuss the overall on-line gaming market and the current landscape of digital distribution of games for broadband service providers. It will also provide an overview of delivery models; discuss the benefits to participants; explain the different models that allow gamers to play free game demos, rent games, and purchase games; and discuss which are most appropriate for the telecom market.
