Enabling the Consumer Driven Ultra-Broadband World
A6

Optical fiber connectivity affords a new opportunity for service providers to invest in and capture the next-generation ultra-broadband consumer wave. Defined as greater than 50 Mb symmetrical throughout, ultra-broadband optical fiber technologies known as FTTH and deep-fiber-based FTTN can equally serve short-term broadband needs and gracefully scale to an all-FTTH optical access network, supporting hundreds of megabits of symmetrical throughput to each subscriber.

In this presentation, the speaker will review the benefits associated with deep-fiber FTTN or direct FTTH ultra-broadband service delivery. He will review modeling tools, real-world deployments, and findings of independent research in the area of consumer ultra-broadband trends. The speaker will describe driving factors in ultra-broadband growth — including consumer demand for high-bandwidth services such as HDTV and higher-throughput data services — and provide case studies of how service providers globally are responding by deploying optical FTTH and deep-fiber FTTN technologies.

Chairperson
Floyd Wagoner
Director, Global Product Marketing, Access Networks Solutions
Access Networks Solutions, Motorola
Mr. Wagoner works for the Motorola department that provides ultra-broadband video, data, and voice applications over FTTP, CMTS, and HFC solutions to service providers and cable operators worldwide. Mr. Wagoner previously served as director of business development and customer education for Motorola Next Level Communications. He has also served in various management, product marketing, and field marketing roles surrounding Motorola's ultra-broadband IPTV and RF video entertainment and access solutions portfolios.

Speakers
