Plenary Panel

As more service providers enter the content value chain, the status quo changes and issues and new solutions arise. This Plenary Panel will discuss the content ecosystem and the role service providers play, value they bring and issues and alternatives that need to be addressed. This Plenary will also discuss the roles and value that other players in the content ecosystem bring and solutions they provide.

Mr. Vanot has been in his current role since March 2004. He has spent his entire career with the group, starting off in 1997 in the National Network division, and has a diverse and predominantly technical and operational background. Mr. Vanot is a graduate from École Polytechnique and École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications.

Peter Kerckhoff

Mr. Kerckhoff is in charge of content acquisition and partnering. As head of the DT International content board, he is responsible for the DT content strategy and aligned partner management. Mr. Kerckhoff was also head of content and portal launching digital businesses such as gamesload and softwareload. Previously, he was with Bertelsmann RTL Group as a senior project leader for digital TV, becoming a member of the Executive Board in the SBU Business Communication shortly afterward. Mr. Kerckhoff started his professional career as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group, where he worked in financial services and engineering. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Cologne and Columbia University.

François Moreau de Saint Martin

Mr. Moreau de Saint Martin is CEO of Viaccess SA, a France Telecom company devoted to conditional access content protection and rights management, and chairman of the Board of Orca Interactive, a company devoted to VoD and IPTV solutions. In 2004 he returned to France Telecom, where he began his career, to be part of the creation of the Content division as CTO for content services. Prior to that, in 2001, Mr. Moreau de Saint Martin joined Transpac to manage Internet and Web hosting operations. Between 1998 and 2001 he was in TDF, heading the technical department in charge of multimedia broadcasting and pay TV services. Mr. Moreau de Saint Martin began his career at France Telecom (1993-1996) as an R&D engineer in signal processing and then worked between 1996 and 1998 as an advisor on digital television in the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Industry.

Richard Young
Head of Business Development

Since joining BT, Dr. Young has worked on a number of projects and commercial deals such as Xbox and is currently working on developing BT's on-line VoD activities. Prior to joining BT, he spent four and a half years at C4, where he was employed in Corporate Development and worked on a wider range of commercial deals and projects across their channels, on-line, and rights businesses. Previously Dr. Young was a strategy consultant at Arthur Andersen in the Telecoms and Media Practice. He has a Ph.D. in environmental economics.
