This is demonstrated by the introduction of FP2 IP routing silicon—the industry’s first 100 Gbps IP routing network processor and traffic manager.

FP2 technology is highly innovative and represents a significant technology breakthrough by delivering 100 Gbps of high-performance routing, IP/MPLS, traffic management, and high-touch services in a single packet-processing complex, which can sustain line-rate forwarding with all services enabled. Representing a generational leap in silicon technology, the FP2 is fully programmable, consumes only 0.6 watts of power per gigabit, and delivers 64,000 service queues with massive service depth and scale.

Consequently, FP2 enables significant improvements in user quality of experience (QoE) and support for emerging applications in edge, business, residential, and mobile network environments. The new FP2 silicon enables significant increases in routing performance, gigabit, and 10 gigabit Ethernet port densities while increasing throughput and service scale.
