European Regulatory Frameworks — Moving towards Liberalization and Sustainability
E7

In review of the regulatory framework for electronic communications, the European Commission (EC) emphasizes the important progress achieved since 2002 in opening national telecommunications markets to competition.

After five years of changes in the European markets the regulatory framework needs to be changed. This session will analyze the main EU propositions from different points of view. The goal is to answer how the implementation of new proposals will influence market players, national regulatory authorities (NRA), current competition level and vendors across the Europe. At the same time, the panel will be invited to discuss regulation relating to environmental sustainability such as the WEEE and RoHS directives. The objective will be to outline a framework of a sustainable eco-system, particularly in closing the supply loop - both as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility commitment and in meeting national and regional targets for lower carbon emissions.
