Will the Move to LTE Boost the Projected Take-Up of Mobile Broadband Access Technologies?
B4

This session will cover 3G evolution toward LTE and ask when and if LTE can deliver a rich new wave of services with continuous wireline-grade quality of experience for the user. It will look at the key technology drivers from a systems-level perspective and business justification, highlighting the development trends in the next five years. In addition, legacy systems will still need to be supported, so programmable multi-standard solutions will be required, from femto to macro base stations, the scalability, cost, cost of deployment, maintenance, and the ability to upgrade in the field over time are critical factors that OEM vendors, operators, semiconductor manufacturers, academics, standard bodies, and software providers will all need to debate and support in order to give LTE a fighting chance.
