By Rail and Bus
Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) offers fast, direct train service from both O'Hare and Midway Airports to downtown, plus convenient bus and train lines to major attractions. The CTA also provides simple fare cards, easy-to-use maps and brochures, and custom trip planning.

The basic fare for one ride-bus or rail--is $1.75. For ease of travel, consider purchasing a CTA Transit Card or a Visitor Pass. CTA Transit Cards, which automatically deduct fares and transfers and can be used on both trains and buses, may be purchased at any CTA train station for amounts between $1.75 and $99. On any ride, you can take two additional trips within two hours for the cost of one transfer (25 cents). If you plan to use the CTA extensively, however, Visitor Passes are your best value. Available for 1-Day ($5), 2-Days ($9), 3-Days ($12), and 5-Days ($18), they allow unlimited rides on buses and trains. Visitor Passes are not valid on Pace (suburban) buses or Metra (commuter) trains and they cannot be shared or recharged.] Visitor passes may be purchased at the airport, visitor information centers, Union Station, and select Chicago attractions. To purchase passes or transit cards in advance, call 1-888-968-7282. You can also purchase them online. For full route, fare, and schedule information, click here or call 312-836-7000 every day from 5 am - 1 am (CT). To plan your itinerary click here.
