- Pirelli Metro and Access Network SolutionsThe Light Wavelength Division Multiplexing (LWDM) platform builds on the success of the Pirelli City8-TM- CWDM platform by adding low-end DWDM capability. This combination supports six CWDM wavelengths, each operating at 2.5Gbit/s, and 16 DWDM wavelengths, each operating at 2.5 or 10Gbit/s, for a total capacity of 175Gbit/s on a single platform. The DWDM channels support optical amplification, allowing links of up to 200km without the use of dispersion-compensation. LWDM is suitable for network applications ranging from WDM-PON up to metro-core WDM and can handle all types of clients and line interfaces to meet the growing demand for premium services. As of today, 2,000+ nodes of City8™ have been deployed in Italy, France, Sweden, Germany, Spain, and the United States.
- Pirelli Dual-Mode Wi-Fi/GSM PhonesPirelli's family of dual-mode handsets combine GSM tri-band capabilities with SIP-based VoIP via an integrated WLAN 802.11g interface, integrating cell phone technology with the added advantage of transporting phone calls over the Internet. Pirelli's line of phones allows users to enjoy the convenience of one handset that acts as both a mobile and a broadband cordless phone. Consumers can make regular cell phone calls using any GSM SIM card or VoIP calls through a Wi-Fi-enabled xDSL subscription. Pirelli's handsets enable mobile phone features such as Internet browsing, e-mail, SMS, and MMS, which can also be used through a fixed-broadband connection, providing the added benefits of greater bandwidth and cost savings.
- Pirelli Multimedia SolutionsPirelli's new high-definition set-top boxes provide the foundation for the ideal home entertainment center. By bringing together IPTV and digital terrestrial television into one powerful multimedia platform, Pirelli enables the delivery of a wide range of content bundles under secure protection offered by DRM and CA state-of-the art solutions. Pirelli's hybrid set-top boxes are based on single-chip technology and support both legacy and new encoding standards such as H.264 and VC1 at both Standard and High Definition. Pirelli set-top boxes can be equipped with a hard drive for digital video recording. In conjunction with the leading middleware platforms, Pirelli's set-top boxes enable assorted trick modes, local video recording, recorded-services playback, Live TV pause, and time-shift recording.
