NGN architectures of tomorrow clearly focus on an all-IP network architecture to provide service flexibility and network conversion. IP-based services such as VoIP, IPTV, Internet, IP-based VPNs, and LAN-LAN services will be fully supported.
But what is the relevance of legacy services such as POTS, ISDN, and data-leased lines for the revenue structure of public network operators? Network operators have already established that they cannot neglect the revenues of those services in medium-term scenarios.
Network migration scenarios, therefore, also have to provide economical support for legacy services without imposing additional operational burdens.
The session will discuss the following:
- Forecasts on legacy and NGN service developmentsul>
- Service requirements of residential and business customers
- Migration scenarios supporting legacy voice, leased lines, and existing VPNs
