2008 Olympics: New User Experience — Personalized Multi-Angle Views

With the fast development of new technologies, the Internet, mobile telecommunications, and network security have drawn great attention from the public and continuously brought the exciting experience for end users during great events such as the Olympic Games. We can expect that in the coming of the 2008 Olympics Games, abundant applications of video and information will be deployed on a large scale and enrich people's lives through these new services and new experiences.

In this workshop, China Netcom, together with peers, officers and vendors, will discuss and compare these new technologies and applications such as instant interactive video, video surveillance, and video and voice communication for the coming 2008 Olympics Games. How to provide these new services and applications for users and how to meet the challenges and requirements of the Olympics will be answered at this session.

Mr. Zhan has 20 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of digital telephone systems, signaling systems, and intelligent networks. His work also covers technologies and applications in such areas as broadband, network security, and call centers. Mr. Zhan has been focusing on networks and services planning for 2008 Beijing Olympic Games since 2004, when CNC won a bid for being the partner of BOCOG. He has an M.B.A. from the Webster University in America.

Mr. Chan has more than 12 years of experience in the mobile telecom industry. Since joining Nokia Network in 2000, he acts as technology consultant to recommend 3G system solutions to operators in the Asia-Pacific and Greater China areas. Mr. Chan is also heavily involved in customer projects on IMS/FMC and end-user applications that help operators improve their business performances. He holds a M.B.A. degree and a M.Sc. degree in electrical and electronics engineering.

Eric Gan

Mr. Gan has more than 10 years of working experience in the IT and telecom industries, mainly focus on IP networking, IP switching, VoIP, NB/BB data access solutions, NGNs, IMS, and multimedia data service solutions for mobile networks. He has four years of working experience at Ericsson China in management roles from NGN solutions to multimedia and IMS solutions.

Jinming Liu

Mr. Liu graduated from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and joined Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., in 1998. He engages in the digital media and entertainment product lines and accumulates abundant experience in multimedia and telecom areas. In 2005, Mr. Liu was awarded with the first prize of science advances of Shenzhen because of his great contribution to developing digital TV products. He joined the digital media and entertainment product management department in 2006 and has been in charge of strategic planning and business models consulting in media and ICT convergence.

Mr. Liu joined Alcatel-Lucent in 2006 and is highly recognized for his technical expertise and experience in the telecom and network industries. Previously, he successively worked for several famous international networking companies, including Chipcom, Bay Networks, and Cisco Systems, where he led various network technical teams and played a key role in the design and deployment of a number of large nationwide IP, ATM, and VoIP backbone networks. From 1991 to 1995, Mr. Liu worked at Sun Microsystems as a senior systems engineer and network ambassador in China.

Xuyang Ren

Mr. Ren joined the Baidu team in December 2001, working successively as the general manager of Baidu's Shanghai branch, director of strategic development, and assistant to the president of Baidu. Since Baidu's successful listing on NASDAQ in 2005, he has organized and led a series of strategic cooperation negotiations with a number of multinational companies, facilitated a range of cooperations with industry-leading companies based both inside and outside China, and participated in the drafting of Baidu's globalization strategy, of which he also oversaw the implementation. Mr. Ren has been in his current role since March 2007.
