With increasing demands for social informalization, social information applications are becoming increasingly popular and the entire information industry is evolving toward convergence of IT and CT, i.e. ICT service, where IT and CT penetrate into, complement, and facilitate each other. With rapid growth of social information applications, especially with acceleration of government informalization and SME informalization, the worldwide ICT service market represents a great business opportunity. At the same time, telecom operators are adopting strategies to transform into integrated information service providers, taking ICT service as a new revenue source. The workshop will do the following:
  • Investigate ICT service growth strategies of telecom operators, including integration service, outsourcing service, product marketing and agency service, consultation service and software development, etc.
  • Exploit how to build a healthy ICT value chain successfully.
  • Discuss demands of ICT service on business process re-engineering.
  • Discuss ICT operation management and maintenance models.
  • Discuss ICT product standardization.
  • Discuss security policy for ICT service.

In addition to his current role, Mr. Zuo is also the general manager of China Netcom Group Broadband Online Limited Corporation. He is a member of ICANN, chairman of AT-LARGE CHINA, and director of Internet Society of China. Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Zuo was the general manager of the marketing and broadband and content departments at China Netcom from 2004 to 2005. From 2003 to 2004, he was the general manager of the Internet department at China Netcom.

Mr. Gao has more than nine years of experience in the telecommunications industry. In his most recent role, he worked for Telstra China as general manager in charge of Telstra's China strategy. Prior to that, he worked as legal counsel for Nokia (China) Co., Ltd., where he was responsible for its mobile phone business in China. Mr. Gao provided legal and strategic support for Nokia's mobile phone development and restructuring in China. He also worked for the United Nations as associate legal officer in the Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in the Hague, Netherlands.

Ms. Li has nearly 15 years of experience in the telecom and IT industries. She focuses on the telecom industry strategy and solution areas. Beijing Telecom Solutions Labs is a bridge between IBM WW and IBM AP/GCG; it helps leverage IBM WW industry knowledge, experiences, and assets in IBM AP and GCG. Ms. Li had worked for Motorola, Lucent, and HP in the past; she has strong practice experiences on consulting, planning, system design, and software development of WW/China's big projects.

Ms. Tang joined Ericsson in 1998. She has solid industry background and more than nine years of Ericsson career experience in the mobile network and service layer, with seven of those years in the systems integration business domain. She has intensive experience and knowledge of different fields of system verification, technical support, project management, product management, and business management. Since 2000, Ms. Tang devoted herself to promoting mobile data services to the market, first with CDPD, and then GPRS, multimedia solutions, and telecom management solutions, with a great market knowledge and unique industry insight.

Alex Wang

Mr. Wang's areas of interest include services and applications for operators and business models of operators. Prior to joining ZTE, he spent five years at StarHub, a Singapore-based operator offering mobile, fixed, and cable business. Mr. Wang was responsible for developing and managing various mobile services for StarHub Mobile. Before that, he had years of research experience in mobile communication systems. Mr. Wang holds a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from National University of Singapore and University of Science and Technology of China, respectively.

Mr. Wu joined VeriSign in April 2000. His focus is on the North Asia region, and he is based in Shanghai. Mr. Wu has been involved in the deployment of various VeriSign platforms (e.g., PKI, payments, managed security services) throughout the world, including North and South America, Europe, Japan, and extensively within the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining VeriSign, he worked at Robotics Vision System Inc., based in Singapore, where he was responsible for the Asia-Pacific region.
