Social networks are having a disruptive effect on advertisers, media companies, brand marketers, and content owners around the world. Increasingly, content owners are caught in the middle, unwilling to allow unauthorized distribution of content while realizing the strategic opportunity of using these sites—even going into business with these sites or creating their own in-house version of these social networks and user-generated media sites—to reach target audiences. On one hand, content owners and marketers need to monitor, understand, and work with the world of social networks while also finding ways to syndicate, control, and monetize their content on these sites, build out their own networks, and compete in the world of social networks and user-generated sites. This panel will explore how content owners and technology companies are leveraging these new channels in unique ways to reach audiences and creative technology solutions for controlling this type of content distribution.
