Network Transformation: Mainstreams Toward Future Multimedia Service Offering
A4
Telcos are facing decreasing voice revenues and commoditization of connectivity, while all related OPEX for running the embedded base have been increasing. The scenario goes through a dramatic direction, since new players showed up and VoIP fundamentally changed the business model. Furthermore, selling "broadband-only" bears the risk to become a bit-pipe provider. Therefore, there is an increasing demand on discussing how existing networks could be cost-effectively transformed for deploying future broadband and multimedia service delivery requirements. Besides the technological discussions on future-proof evolutionary network architectures, the potential business cases aligned with Latin American perspective shall be discussed.
