Deploying Carrier-Class Metro Ethernet Solutions That Provide for Next-Gen Services
A1
Deploying next-generation broadband networks involves significant development of infrastructure and network service awareness. An ever-growing customer demand for more bandwidth has forced carriers to move into optical fiber technologies and carrier Ethernet-enabled gear to assure triple-play applications with five critical requirements:
- Bandwidth scale
- Service protection
- Rigid QoS
- Manageability
- Carrier-class OAM
This presentation will describe the evolution of new emerging applications that have helped move the entire industry into an accelerated cycle of network changes. In addition, a case study will present an optical metro Ethernet broadband solution that started the metro Ethernet deployment in 1999 and enables the network to meet all five criteria.
