Deutsche Telekom CTO Friedrich Fuß Headlines IEC's Broadband World Forum Europe 2007 Next Week in Berlin
Key industry players gather next week at the International Engineering Consortium's (IEC) Broadband World Forum Europe 2007 to discuss winning solutions in the information and communications technology (ICT) field

CHICAGO – October 2, 2007 – The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) presents Broadband World Forum Europe 2007 Chair Friedrich Fuß who will captain more than 260 World Forum speakers next week in Berlin. The Broadband World Forum Europe 2007 takes place at the Estrel Convention Center this 8-11 October with Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) as the official host sponsor.

In the Monday opening ceremony and keynote address, Mr. Fuß is expected to discuss challenges the industry faces as well as share DT's goals for winning in the new world of competition.

"The challenges facing all of us in the telecommunications industry are enormous — and the opportunities are enormous as well. The Broadband World Forum Europe 2007 will bring us all together, for a few days, for some intensive discussion," commented World Forum Chair Fuß. "This four-day conference will give us an opportunity to share our experience and to learn from each other about the most promising strategies. And the accompanying exhibition will be sure to offer some tantalizing views of the future of our exciting industry."

IEC President John Janowiak continued, "Mr. Fuß leads a stellar lineup of champions in the industry at the BBWF Europe next week…we're confident that attendees will learn of countless winning strategies from him and the many experts we will present both in the conference and exhibition."

Mr. Fuß concluded, "Broadband lines are playing an increasingly important role…networks will converge as providers work to make broadband access more versatile and customizable…NGN, or next-generation networks, will soon supplant today's legacy networks…the VDSL network that Deutsche Telekom is rolling out will be an important NGN component [and our] group is planning to invest up to three billion euros in it."

Mr. Fuß has been in his current position since November 2006. He was previously head of technical infrastructure at T-Com since April 2003. Mr. Fuß is in charge of the installation and operation of T-Com's entire national and international network infrastructure and its enhancement, e.g., as part of the roll-out of T-Com's new high-speed network based on VDSL2 technology. Mr. Fuß started his professional career at Deutsche Telekom in 1988 and initially held various executive positions in regional and central organizational units.
