Allot Communications (NASDAQ: ALLT) is a leading provider of intelligent IP service optimization solutions. Designed for carriers, service providers, and enterprises, Allot solutions apply deep packet inspection (DPI) technology to transform broadband pipes into smart networks. This creates the visibility and control vital to manage applications, services and subscribers, guarantee quality of service (QoS), contain operating costs, and maximize revenue. Allot believes in listening to customers and provides them with access to its global network of visionaries, innovators, and support engineers.

Technologies on Display
  • Allot Service Gateway(TM)
Allot Service Gateway - Omega Series The Allot Service Gateway A14 Omega Series is the industry's first open, standards-based platform for broadband service control and optimization based on Layer-7 DPI. It is based on an AdvancedTCA(r)-compliant chassis with modular, hot-swappable DPI blades. A single platform provides four 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, that manage two Gigabit Ethernet lines, supporting more than 20 Gigabits per second of traffic.

The Allot Service Gateway meets service provider needs to enforce application-specific policies designed to maximize network efficiency, create new services and ensure high-quality user experiences. This is achieved by supporting rapid adoption of premium Internet services and executing mainstay DPI functions such as P2P traffic control, network monitoring, quality of service (QoS) and prevention of security threats.

Using the Allot Service Gateway A14 Omega Series broadband service providers can:

    • Manage two 10 Gigabit Ethernet lines (more than 20 Gibabits per second of traffic) intelligently and efficiently
    • Deliver revenue-generating value added services
    • Maintain a quality user experience
    • Reduce the cost and complexity of service deployment
    • Protect investment in infrastructure

    Feature Highlights

    • Carrier-grade design: Engineered to AdvancedTCA(r) standards for deployment in service provider networks; NEBS level 3 compliant
    • Open architecture: Standard interfaces, protocols and APIs facilitate integration of value-added services
    • High availability: N+1 redundancy on hot-swappable blades; hardware/software bypass protects against failures on Ethernet interfaces/Flow Processors and enables upgrade and maintenance with no downtime
    • High performance: Supports throughput of more than 20 Gbps with up to 4 x 10-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces (2 x 10-Gigabit Ethernet lines) and up to 20 million concurrent IP flows
    • High scalability: Modular blades provide incremental capacity from 5 to 25 Gbps and ongoing functionality and service upgrades on the same platform
    • Powerful DPI engine: Provides Layer 7 application awareness, network intelligence and visibility to all services in the GatewaySubscriber awareness: Fully integrated with Allot Subscriber Management Platform (SMP)
    • Core services: Real-time monitoring and reporting, traffictrendanalysis, policymanagement, service tiering, QoS prioritization and optimization
    • Centralized management: Fully integrated with Allot NetXplorer management system
  • Allot NetXplorer(TM)
NetXplorer provides the necessary in-depth insight and analysis you need to understand your network and directly link between business goals and network traffic and behavior. Facilitating the decision-making process and streamlining network efficiency, NetXplorer is a highly scalable system that uses a single, easy-to-use GUI to deliver unsurpassed network analysis suitable for short-term network troubleshooting or for understanding long-term trend and usage patterns. Control capabilities include simultaneous provisioning of policies and configuration, updating and distribution of data to all managed Allot NetEnforcer devices.

Integrated in NetEnforcer, the NetXplorer management software achieves a level of network intelligence that ensures optimal network performance, security and management, and caters to application, user and subscriber needs.

For Service Providers, NetXplorer provides the visibility and tools that deliver traffic and subscriber information and control in broadband networks. This is particularly important in controlling operation costs, reducing subscriber churn, increasing revenues (ARPU) and providing new, differentiated services.

For Enterprises, NetXplorer provides network visibility that extends beyond the infrastructure and enables you to link business policies to specific network actions, which is particularly important to ensure mission-critical applications and contain network costs.

    Extensive Range of Features

    • Network-wide visibility using DPI technology for in-depth analysis, including identification of traffic trends and drilling down to the individual device, user or application level for real-time troubleshooting
    • Intuitive interface which provides both a logical network-wide perspective together with the power to quickly navigate down to the device, user or application level Monitoring and analysis, including in-depth analysis down to single user sessions and single applications, real-time monitoring, short-term monitoring for the collection of highly granular information, and storage of network activities in a high resolution data warehouse Insightful reporting of information in real time and over time for evaluation of trends and accurate capacity planning, and for tracking usage for accounting or charge-back purposes using volume-based reports in hundreds of customizable formats
    • Building policies to enable the rapid deployment of services or service changes and automatic distribution of configurations and changes to all managed NetEnforcer units
    • Configuration and policy provisioning of managed NetEnforcers without logging into each device
    • Frontline security enabling easy detection of potential DoS/DDoS attacks or network-born security attacks, setting of thresholds, generation of alarms, and automatic execution of corrective actions Intelligent alarms about abnormal events and automatically invoke corrective actions before problems become costly
    • Optimal System Architecture NetXplorer is based on a highly-scalable architecture which powers the monitoring of all NetEnforcer devices from a single, intuitive user interface.

A single installation package for Windows XP and Windows 2003 servers, system architecture consists of three layers:

The Client Layer is the NetXplorer GUI application, comprising different clients that connect to the NetXplorer Server.

The Server Layer incorporates the actual NetXplorer application, including the database. Managing and communicating with the different clients that access the system, it facilitates NetEnforcer configuration, policy provisioning, alarms, monitoring and reporting. The NetXplorer also includes an integrated data collector, which streamlines the required collection of data from the managed NetEnforcer devices.

The Agent Layer is an optional component which enables the NetEnforcer to be managed by the NetXplorer and support all management functions.

  • Allot Subscriber Management Platform (SMP)(TM)
Allot SMP helps service providers build an intelligent service network that knows how to deliver the quality of experience that each subscriber expects, while allowing providers to retain control over network usage. The per-subscriber visibility, policy enforcement and quota management provided by Allot SMP is the key to customizing service offerings and maximizing service revenues. This modular platform can be seamlessly deployed at peering points and at access points, to effectively manage subscriber-based services.

Providing a Clear Picture of Subscriber Usage

Understanding subscriber usage is the first step to identifying ARPU opportunities and creating profitable service plans. Allot SMP provides real-time and long-term monitoring reports detailing individual usage patterns, most popular services, top users, and other usage statistics. These give service providers the network intelligence they need to analyze subscriber behavior and direct their broadband resources toward more profitable charging models.

    Differentiating Services to Increase ARPU

Through tiered services control and quota management , Allot SMP creates unlimited opportunity for innovative service packaging and pricing. Joint revenue models with alternate providers and non-provisioned services such as gaming and competing VoIP applications can also become a source of revenue as SMP meters their usage, enforces QoS, and generates usage statistics and accounting CDRs.
