In a world of steady innovation, not only does the technology see revolutions, but also the established business models get challenged.
While net neutrality seems to become a matter of fact, and in some countries even a court decision, it might be that the title of a recent issue of Time (Who's the most important person of the year? It's you.) will reflect how deep those revolutions will reshape our businesses by the end of the decade.
The coming of Joost raises questions and concerns. Should these technologies, should these advertisement-based models, be considered as threats to the current businesses? Of telecom operators? Of manufacturers? Of system integrators? Of content owners?
In this panel, we aim at considering various perspectives. Some of them might seem to be contradictory: will opportunities emerge?
As entertainment video content is best enjoyed on TV, regardless of the actors in the midst of the end-to-end chain, consumer electronics will anyhow have to bring it to the consumer in a way of display.

Mr. van den Broek has managed the worldwide telecom operator business for home networks since 2005. Prior to that, he was vice president of marketing and managing director at Level 3 Communications in Europe, where he founded the Netherlands company in 1999. Between 1995 and 1999, Mr. van den Broek was director of the alternative international network at AT&T and was responsible for setting up new services in Asia and Latin America. Before that, he was responsible for the marketing and sales of AT&T's equipment for public networks in Europe, based in the Netherlands and Poland.

Enrico Bagnasco

Mr. Bagnasco joined Telecom Italia's research center in 1988. He has led OSS standardization activities in ETSI, ITU, and TeleManagement Forum. Mr. Bagnasco chaired the ETNO TMN working group and has been active in IEEE, acting as general chair of the NOMS2002 symposium; currently he is a member of the IEC Board. Within Telecom Italia, he has held different management responsibilities in the areas of network management and service platforms. In his current position, he is driving the technology plan, the standard coordination, and the long-term research projects. He holds a computer science degree from the University of Torino in Italy.

Dr. Werner is responsible for all the application platforms, comprising mobile TV, IPTV, browsing, and messaging, as well as IMS-based rich communication services. His most recent positions were head of mobile solutions and head of business development at the mobile networks division of Siemens Communications. Before joining Siemens, Dr. Werner worked for Philips Communication Systems in IT, R&D, and corporate development functions in Germany and Belgium. In all, he has almost 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, both in the fixed and mobile network sectors.
