Keynote Address: Capturing the Broadband Opportunity
We are seeing mobile broadband start to pick up in developed markets, but it's still in its early stages. This is partly a technology issue, but it's also because wireline broadband is fairly well developed in these geographies. In emerging markets mobile is taking the role of preferred connection method for voice services, but will mobile broadband take root in emerging markets?
Will these emerging markets simply skip wireline broadband and only use mobile? Or is it going to be a blend of fixed wireless and mobile? What sort of interplay do we expect to see between different broadband technologies over the next five to 10 years, and what is our vision and strategy?
