Home Highways for Video Distribution
E3

The new service frontier is IPTV. The two key elements to enable this frontier are access gateways and set-top boxes. No connectivity between devices, refusal to lay additional CAT5 cables, and complicated equipment configurations prevent the mass diffusion of IPTV.

This session will present the technologies that can solve the IPTV distribution challenge, including powerline and wireless 802.11n, which exploit existing home infrastructures. In addition, QoS management will be covered. Real deployment scenarios including service requirements will be provided (operator and supplier perspectives), as well as the necessary investment needed to implement successful IPTV services.
