Towards Converged Broadband Architectures for Mobile, Wireless and Fixed Access
D5

Motivated by the increasing customer demand to use broadband services any time, anywhere and with any device, the session addresses the challenges to design a converged, next generation IP-based broadband access and aggregation network architecture including mobile (e.g. UMTS, HSPA, LTE), wireless (e.g. WLAN, WiMAX) and fixed (e.g. xDSL, GPON) access technologies. A particular focus of the session is on solutions to support overarching mobility (including user, terminal and session mobility), satisfying end-to-end quality of experiency (QoE), reliable AAA and appropriate security mechanisms, regardless of the underlying technologies. Furthermore, solutions for automated and user controlled mechanisms to adapt services to device and network capabilities will be covered. An important criterion for assessment of different approaches is cost efficiency in terms of CAPEX and OPEX, including realistic deployment and migration scenarios.
