The advancements in DSL IAD technology raise substantial challenges for carriers and system integrators. It's no longer sufficient to simply shuffle data from the WAN to the LAN port or even offer basic VoIP connections. Integrating a variety of technologies, including WLAN 11n and plastic optical fiber (POF), in conjunction with new applications like IPTV-set-top boxes, NAS, media servers and clients, increases the requirements for data handling, QoS, configuration, and interaction protocols. The increased number of VoIP channels strains VoIP quality requirements even more. This session will present the latest trends in broadband CPE design. It will further examine the requirements from next-generation CPEs, available solutions, and user scenarios devised to make customer experience a business success.
