Service and Network Security — Red Alert or False Alarm?
A5

Services and networks continue to evolve into more complicated forms. For example, services are migrating from Layer 2 into Layer 3/ IP-driven, and networks are being built using multi-layer (access, aggregation, core), multi-protocol (ATM and/to Ethernet migration), multi-control tools (for transport, IMS, applications, etc.) and many other multi-aspects. Does this affect the services and network vulnerability level, or is it an industry conspiracy to intimidate us? Assuming there are threats, how can we deal with them and what are the implications of keeping services and networks secure?

This session will provide a thorough overview of security hazards in the access environment and will dive into multi-play service security (IPTV, mobile, etc.) implications such as processing power, provisioning, and maintaining. We will also discuss the user area as a trusted or un-trusted segment.
