Keynote Speakers

Mohammad Shakouri
Corporate Vice President, Strategy
Alvarion

Dr. Shakouri has 20 years of experience in wireless system, microwave, and fiber-optic networks. Previously, he spent three years at Lucent and was responsible for managing, building, and developing network solutions for European and South American broadband wireless markets. Dr. Shakouri also spent 14 years in technical and management positions at Hewlett-Packard, developing microwave and fiber-optic communication components and systems.


Richard Green
President and Chief Executive Officer
CableLabs

Dr. Green heads the R&D organization responsible for charting the cable-television industry's course in technology. Under his leadership, CableLabs has managed key technology projects that have helped the industry move toward standardization and achieve interoperability among multiple industry suppliers. These industry initiatives include the CableLabs certified cable-modem effort that is resulting in retail availability of high-speed cable modems. Other initiatives focus on advanced digital devices (OpenCable) and sophisticated use of packet technology on cable systems to deliver multimedia services (PacketCable).


Eugene Lew
Vice President, Advanced Services
NeuStar

Mr. Lew is responsible for strategic IP product and program initiatives at Neustar. He has over 25 years of experience in management and engineering of telecommunications, cable, Internet, and multi-media technologies. Most recently, Mr. Lew served as vice president, engineering for PAIX/Switch and Data, where he was responsible for the architecture, technology, and strategic direction. Previously, he worked in the cable industry with Comcast, Adelphia, and Cox and was the vice president of advanced technology for Time Warner Cable/RoadRunner, where he managed RoadRunner's engineering and advanced technology development efforts.


Tim Whitley
Director, Strategic Analysis and Architecture Realization
BT Group

Dr. Whitley joined BT in 1981 as an apprentice telephone engineer. During his 25-year career, he has held many positions at BT, from advanced photonics research to global technical architecture. In his current role, he reports to BT's chief technology officer and runs a small team of technical and financial experts responsible for developing BT's technology strategy and downstreaming BT's 21C Network & Intelligence Architecture. Recently, Dr. Whitley has been responsible for developing the business case underpinning BT's 21st Century Network Strategy and downstreaming both strategy and network architecture into BT.
