Plenary Panel
Future Broadband Challenges, Services, and Applications: Carriers' Perspective
9:00 – 10:30 | Tuesday, 10 October

For the past months, carriers have massively rolled out broadband networks mainly based on DSL; they now have to answer some key questions: Is it time to invest in next-generation networks, FTTx in the access, IMS in the core? What will be the killer applications (SDTV or HDTV with simple or enhanced interactivity? Interactive gaming?) and services (Triple play? Quadruple play?), and what are the related business models? They also have to figure out how to cooperate and compete with content owners and software suppliers; how to be the first in quality of service, as perceived by customers; and how to drastically cut their costs. All the above questions will be discussed in the Executive Plenary Panel.
