3G versus Fixed Broadband versus WiMAX Solutions and Integration
9:00 – 10:30 | Wednesday, 11 October
Broadband takes various forms, all enabling consumers and enterprises to experience new services and content deliveries. What are the basic advantages of these technologies, and what are reasons to prefer one over the other? Will third generation (3G) dominate over fixed broadband, and will WiMAX form the ultimate solution? Can the various technologies coexist, and how could the various access methods be unified in a core network? The panel will give a detailed overview of the advantages and disadvantages the various technologies have in terms of wide-area coverage, achievable bit rates, and deployment cost.
What are the typical business models behind the deployment of these technologies? Is it really competing technology, or are certain operators complementing their service offering by selecting the appropriate broadband access, whether it be 3G, fixed broadband, or WiMAX?
