HSDPA Broadband Services - A Commercial Reality
15:45 – 17:15 | Tuesday, 10 October

Voice went mobile, and now broadband is going mobile. Access to high-speed Internet services is available everywhere and while on the move. This is mobile broadband.

High-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA), the first step in the evolution of third-generation (3G) wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA), is the most cost-effective wireless alternative to an asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL). Mobile operators can now successfully address the broadband business opportunities and competitively offer ADSL-like services with the additional benefit of widespread access and full mobility.

Broadband represents a significant business opportunity for 3G operators, who have the unique capability to deliver mobile, fixed, voice, and broadband services with the same network investments and spectrum. The session will discuss the experience from launch of HSDPA enabled commercial broadband services in 3G/WCDMA networks.
