Now, broadband networks outsell dialup, readily obtainable and affordable data rates begin at 384K, and scale up to 2 Mbps and more. Network operators have already begun plans to increase speeds to potentially as high as 100 Mbps.
Triple Play networks available today can be built on DSL, FTTx and HFC access architectures. They can use varying amounts of fiber, copper, wireless in the network. Regardless of the access technology deployed for triple play, approaches need to be developed for multiservice networking, quality-of-service, security, and bandwidth management that next generation and triple play services will require. Current networks need to be able to scale as speeds become faster, and the triple play bundle yields to quadruple or quintuple play.
At the same time, emerging communications technologies are leading to radical change in the way people will work learn and are entertained. Broadband deployment is reached critical mass in the US, which is going to cause tremendous changes in the relationship between the telecom service providers, video and computer gaming firms, consumer electronics manufactures, and content providers. Emerging telecom technologies in areas like as Fiber to the Home, Ethernet, and Home Area Networking are creating electronic pathways that content innovators are only now beginning to take advantage of.
This daylong session will take an in-depth look at the technologies, services and applications that comprise the telecommunications triple play.
This opening session will look at some of the technology trends in delivering the triple play. A mix of HFC, FTTX, NG-DLC, and WiMAX vendors will provide a technology background that shows the options for triply-play deployment available to carriers today. This presentation will also address evolving trends and standards activity that will accelerate triple-play services.
This session will address the services market.
This panel of service providers will share their experiences and deliver case studies on the nuts and bolds of building broadband networks and delivering triple play services.
Yes, there are services beyond the usual bundle of voice, video, and data. Of course, lots of people have different ideas of what the fourth service should be. This presentation will feature those with different ideas of what the fourth (and fifth, etc.) services should be. Examples include satellite, IP video, video on demand, and wireless services.
This session will look at some of the applications that are under development for triple-play networks. There are a number of innovative services looking to leverage the triple-play network. Panelists will explain why broadband networks have provided an opportunity, what network deployment requirements they have, and what help they need from the telecom industry. Topics will include streaming audio and video, education, heath care, and on-line gaming.
