This product is a breakthrough in video delivery to the home. The product is sold as two model numbers - EN5980 for SMPTE VC-1 and EN5990 for MPEG-4 AVC. Both products are based on the TANDBERG HD Intelligent Compression Engine (HD ICE). The HD-ICE is a powerful and sophisticated real-time video and audio compression engine. It produces excellent HD image quality at lower bit-rates for live TV than ever seen before. The massive bit-rate reductions, up to half those required by MPEG-2, enable new and improved business models and improved operational efficiency. Specifically for IPTV operators this product provides the very real possibility of providing quality HD TV over ADSL2+ or VDSL technologies using bit-rates between 6 and 10Mbit/s.
