Technologies on Display
ASR 10000, Access Switching Router
ASR 10000 is PacketFront's broadband aggregation router purpose-built for solving the complexities that triple-play services pose to broadband networks. It is ideal for TV over DSL applications; hence, it is the ultimate aggregation router for DSLAMs. However, it is designed to aggregate multiple access technologies including DSL (ADSL/2+, VDSL), wireless (Wi-Fi, WiMAX), Ethernet over coax, PON, and broadband power lines.
Powered by the proven iBOS software and fully automated by BECS, it assures that service definitions are dynamically applied for all users. The ASR 10000 offers 24 electrical 1000BaseTX ports and eight SFP-based Gigabit Ethernet ports. Thanks to the design where signaling and traffic are separated, and the fact that no PPP technology is used, PacketFront's ADSL2+ solution, including the ASR 10000 and BECSTM, presents a valuable alternative to the costly BRAS systems.
BECS, Control and Provisioning System
PacketFront BECSTM is the central control and provisioning system for automation of the broadband network. It provides the essential functionalities to solve the complexities of a triple-play environment, including multicast, conditional access, bandwidth control, and QoS by way of automation. Furthermore, BECSTM features unique software control of PacketFront's broadband routers, including automated configuration changes and software upgrades. Advanced service differentiation and service packaging are yet other advantages that are provided with BECSTM. The design of all PacketFront broadband networks is based on a distributed architecture, where signaling is separated from payload traffic. Hence, no traffic is flowing through the control and provisioning system, avoiding traffic bottlenecks and disturbances in the network. BECSTM enables open access per service, providing valuable wholesale opportunities.
