Broadband networks capable of delivering triple play are a reality and video services play an important role in increasing ARPU and reducing churn. This session will cover the rationale and the needs for delivery of video-centric interactive content over DSL and fibre to the home (FTTH) networks and the requirement on network infrastructure. It will also include an in-depth case study from Robin Eckermann, Chief Architect of TransACT, the Australian power utility that has deployed a triple play of telephony, high speed internet and subscription TV in Canberra.

This position continued following TANDBERG Television's acquisition of NDS' digital broadcasting business.
Tim Warren, Chief Technical Officer, Entone Technologies, brings more than 12 years of professional experience in distributed computing systems and video on demand (VOD) architecture design and development. Prior to joining Entone, Tim served as the lead engineer on the world's first commercial deployment of VOD where he was specifically responsible for the VOD server design, deployment, and operations.
Robin Eckermann, Principal, Eckermann & Associates, has built a distinguished track record in Australia's information technology and communications industry. His title of Chief Architect for TransACT highlights his interest in form as well as function - an interest which has led to some radical departures from conventional thinking (such as TransACT's open network philosophy). Robin is now an independent consultant, but continues to serve TransACT in an executive role on a part-time basis.
