Local-Loop Evolution to Support Services This session will examine architectures to evolve the existing local loop to deliver broadband and next-generation services. The session will explore next-generation service bundles and review alternative broadband access architectures, including converged access gateways, alternative access (e.g., integrated access devices [IADs]), and the deployment of DSL in existing outside plant solutions. The session will culminate with a service provider's perspective to provide insights on business realities, evolving network visions, and knowledge gained from real-world converged access and services bundling.
Chairperson Leita Lewis, Senior Manager, Succession Strategic Marketing, Nortel Networks, works in the broad portfolio of carrier voice-over-packet products. Her 18-year career at Nortel includes extensive product marketing, product management, and software-development experience. Speakers Leita Lewis, Senior Manager, Succession Strategic Marketing, Nortel Networks Jon Glass, Director, Product Management, Catena Networks, is currently responsible for product management of Catena's two broadband access platforms: the CNX-5 Broadband DSL System and the CN1000 Broadband Loop Carrier. Albert Wong, Managing Director, New World Telephone LTD, is leading the company to evolve from a Hong Kong-based telecom operator to a regional carrier with particular emphasis in the Greater China market. Mr. Wong is also a director of New World Telephone Holdings Limited. |
