Delivering a True Profitable Next-Generation Wireless User Experience Next-generation communication services are on the edge of becoming a reality. While wireless infrastructure begins to support more rich communication applications, there are still challenges along the value chain for rolling such services and delivering a true profitable new generation of wireless user experience. This session will examine how entertainment and rich content applications from the CE industry will force a change in communications perspective—the role of multiple players along the chain in creating and delivering new expanded services to the user whenever and wherever he or she wants it.
Chairperson William Mengel, Director, Thomson, is a member of Thomson's Research and Innovation organization, whose charter is to identify, manage, and promote the most promising innovative projects and bring them to a business and technical maturity level. His specific responsibilities include managing projects related to the technology blocks that are to be incorporated into future systems and to act as an interface between Thomson's Research organizations and the various Thomson business units. Speakers Michael Hegeman, Industry Consultant, EDS, is responsible for defining, developing, and managing EDS' portfolio of mobile applications. Kumar Ramaswamy, Manager, Thomson, leads and manages the Corporate Research Center. He manages a laboratory with the mission to strengthen systems and product-development know-how in mobile and broadband digital communications.
