Business Model for Optical Ethernet Optical Ethernet solutions can improve tenfold a carrier's ability to quickly allocate customer bandwidth. This improvement translates into dramatically improved time-to-market and profitability. Bandwidth provisioning is simplified, and operational expenses, such as upgrades and maintenance, are greatly reduced as compared to SONET-based technologies. This session will explore in-depth business case issues that can change carrier business models for addressing metro network opportunities.
Chairperson Timothy Dixon, Vice President, Marketing, Atrica, was vice president of marketing for Calient Networks before joining Atrica. Prior to joining Calient, Mr. Dixon spent several years at ADC Telecommunications, where he was the vice president of strategic marketing for the company's Teledata subsidiary. Before ADC, Mr. Dixon held various engineering, project management, and business-development positions at Tellabs. Speakers Jessie Jewitt, Director, Infrastructure, France Telecom, is responsible for advanced studies in emerging networking technologies in Silicon Valley, in particular metropolitan Gigabit Ethernet. Ms. Jewitt also represents France Telecom at the Metro Ethernet Forum. Michael Kennedy, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Network Strategy Partners LLC, is responsible for the delivery of NSP's consulting services to equipment vendors, service providers, and enterprises. Robert Smith, Senior Director, Product Management, BellSouth, leads product management for BellSouth's optical products, including SONET and Ethernet networking products. He also manages BellSouth's ISDN product line and wholesale Internet dial concentrator services. Kevin Sheehan, Vice President, Marketing, Hatteras Networks, drives the development of new products and brings them to market successfully. |
