Experiences and Issues in Deploying an IP/MPLS Infrastructure

Building the right foundation for your IP/MPLS network can mean the difference between profit and unfortunate limits to your service potential and customer reach. The speakers in this session will walk through technologies and strategies for deploying IP/MPLS infrastructure and value-added services that can result in significant end-user benefits and revenue. They will explore the following key areas while providing best practices and examples based on their experiences successfully deploying IP/MPLS infrastructures and services on national and global scales:

  • Strategies for leveraging current infrastructures while building an IP/MPLS network with incremental investments
  • Service-enabling the network edge to support a range of services (e.g., L3 VPNs; high-speed data, voice, and video) and customer requirements
  • Delivering higher capacities across the network: backbone, network edge, and/or small, medium, and large PoPs
  • Ways to improve QoS, scalability, reliability, and security
  • Streamlining cumbersome business engineering processes
  • Articulating the value-add proposition to your customers and overcoming the challenges in packaging services to customers
  • Next steps moving forward - the service optimization phase, or life after IP/MPLS deployment
