IEC Brings Inaugural NanoEngineering Event to the East Coast

Engineers, technologists, managers and executives gathered to explore the field of nanotechnology at the NanoEngineering World Forum 2003 in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This first annual event helped attendees find the resources needed to turn scientific discoveries into engineered products.

The IEC thanks all of those who attended the NanoEngineering World Forum and co-located DesignCon East events. Special thanks go to the authors, speakers, chairs and exhibiting companies who together presented a program that featured 20 technical sessions, 7 high-level panel discussions, 3 keynote addresses, and an exhibits floor that offered attendees an in-depth look at the technologies and solutions discussed in the sessions.

Event Highlights
Salvo Coffa, Technology Director of Silicon Optics and Research and Development for STMicroelectronics, presented the Monday luncheon remarks entitled "Innovative Technologies for Multifunctional Devices."

Bernard Gordon Bernard Gordon, Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of Analogic Corporation, delivered the Tuesday luncheon keynote address. In his humorous, incisive remarks, Mr. Gordon offered the audience an overview of his introduction to the technology industry and highlighted the necessity of cooperation between the university and engineering communities in maximizing the benefits of nanotechnology.

Cherry Murray Cherry Murray, Senior Vice President of the Physical Sciences Research Lab at Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories, made the relationship between and impact of nanotechnology on telecommuncations the focus of her Wednesday luncheon keynote presentation.

The DesignCon East and NanoEngineering World Forum exhibits floor offered attendees the opportunity to see first-hand the technologies discussed during the educational program. View a list of this year's exhibiting companies and hot technologies.

We look forward to seeing you next year for the NanoEngineering World Forum 2004. Check back soon for dates and location.
