D3 - Broadband Home Network Architectures: The Digital Home
The digital home is evolving to provide the convenience, ease of use, and security that consumers expect. A new generation of equipment that combines a broadband modem, firewall, router, home networking, and an intuitive Web interface supports data, entertainment, and advanced telephony applications, providing high-speed Internet access and content distribution throughout the home. Other models see the media center as the hub of the digital home. This session will look at several possible models for the evolution of the digitally connected home and the consumer applications that will drive it. The important question of how to minimize and manage the complexity of the digital home will also be addressed.
