C4 - Advancing DSL: Driving the Technology That Delivers the Bandwidth
This session will update attendees on recent advances in DSL technology that increase performance and bit rates. The focus is primarily on those techniques and technologies that are in the process of being standardized. The speakers will address the topics of dynamic spectrum management, which promises significant gains in DSL bit rates through advanced signal processing; progression of symmetrical DSLs, including M2DSL and enhanced SHDSL, which increase the bit rates provided by symmetrical technologies; progression of asymmetrical DSLs, including ADSL2+, READSL, and ADSL++, which increase the bit rate and reach of ADSL; and VDSL, which provides higher bit rates on shorter loops and has been a key topic in standards in 2003.
Chairperson
Krista Jacobsen, Senior Staff Engineer, Broadband Communications Group, Texas Instruments, is currently responsible for determining and leading the execution of Texas Instruments' xDSL standards strategy. She held a National Science Foundation graduate fellowship from 1991 to 1994, an IEEE Communications Society scholarship in 1993, and an IBM graduate fellowship from 1994 to 1995.
