Carrier View of Broadband Access Architecture

Service providers, whether established or emerging, are racing to address the explosive growth and demand for virtually limitless bandwidth and broadband services in the access (first-mile) network. One of the critical components that must be addressed is the architecture and infrastructure the service provider deploys to separate it from the competition. Tomorrow's service providers need unlimited scaling, rapid coverage of large areas, lower start-up and operational costs and expanded revenue opportunities. This panel discusses the access architecture required and approaches taken by service providers to address the emerging broadband access-network opportunities.

  • Services driving broadband access networks
  • Business models for addressing various segments of the access opportunity
  • How the network will evolve to deliver broadband services
  • Economics of deployment

CHAIRPERSON:

Dilip Modi, Senior Product Manager, Terawave Communications, was formerly the solutions-offer manager at Lucent Technologies in the broadband access group. Mr. Modi also held various product marketing and business development positions in the telecom infrastructure group at Hewlett-Packard.
