End-to-End Broadband Technologies

Broadband Internet access is rolling across the landscape, and it is coming in various forms such as cable, DSL, fiber, wireless and multimegabit T1 aggregation. There are service-delivery platforms for each of these access technologies, but service providers must control the cost and complexity of their networks in order to remain profitable. This session explores the issues involved with serving multiple access markets and offers technical suggestions about how to serve broadband users over any type of connection with a simple, cost-effective architecture.

  • A summary of the approaches to broadband connectivity
  • Physical and management requirements for streamlining broadband access over multiple technologies
  • Issues that service providers need to consider when delivering value-added services over this complex infrastructure landscape
