OSS Legacy Obsolescence

As network operators transform their networks into high-speed, broadband, and multiservice platforms, they need to modify or replace their current OSS. The task is complex, time consuming, often expensive, and fraught with a minefield of potential problems. In this session, we will discuss the key concerns and why most providers will choose to reduce risks and time by avoiding customization, maintaining installed equipment and installing mediation devices, and purchasing standards-based equipment and software.

  • Architectural Considerations
  • Transition, Data Conversion, and Synchronization
  • Business Case: Buy/Build and Operations Costs

CHAIRPERSON:

Richard Paquette, President and Founder, Mediation Technology Corporation, and President and Principal Engineer, Westronic Systems, a subsidiary company, has worked in network-management companies for more than 13 years, mostly as a systems integrator of network-management systems (NMSs) and replacement projects.

SPEAKERS:

Tim Radke, Vice President, Research and Development, Mediation Technology, has considerable experience as an OSS architect, with more than 12 years in the industry.

Mark Rethemeyer, Director, Sales Engineering, Cordell Manufacturing

Deborah Strong, Business Edge Solutions
