802.11 Alphabet Soup: Next-Generation OSS for Wireless Data

The convergence of wireless and data offers new revenue opportunities for carriers during this time of slow economic growth and increased scrutiny of planned 2.5/3G network enhancements. New networks based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 protocols are emerging and will play an important role in facilitating delivery of wireless data solutions in the near term. These new networks will co-exist with, and complement, 2.5/3G networks when they arrive. The key to unlocking the revenue potential of these networks is a solid operations support system (OSS) foundation that enables interoperability and seamless roaming.

  • 802.11 Deployment for High-Speed Wireless Data Roaming
  • OSS Requirements for Open and Secure Roaming across 802.11 "Islands"
  • Security Considerations and Solutions for 802.11 Networks
  • Wireless ISP Case Study on 802.11 Network Deployment and Roaming Services
