Service Mediation for 3G Mobile Networks
Third-generation (3G) high-speed data services bring a whole new set of options for carriers to interoperate their network capabilities with third-part content partners and enterprise networks. Session initiation protocol (SIP), Web services (e.g., simple object access protocol [SOAP]), Internet content adaptation protocol (ICAP), open service architecture (OSA)/Parlay, and JAINSPA are key service mediation technologies. Not only does this infrastructure let an operator jump into the Internet business-to-business (B2B) model for leveraging other content partner's assets, but these technologies also become a powerful tool to foster a multivendor marketplace.
