Delivering the Broadband Network: Strategies for Success

With more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Mr. Rodey has held senior management positions at Westell, Rockwell International, Nortel Networks, and Wescom, Inc. Mr. Rodey is also an active member of the International Engineering Consortium's Executive Council. Additionally, he is one of the founding members of the DSL Forum, where he has been a member of the board of directors since its inception in 1995.

During his time at Cisco Systems, Mr. Anderson has led the Cisco Photonics Business Unit on a worldwide basis, a division of Cisco's Optical Networking Group, where he was responsible for the development and marketing of Cisco's optical products. He is now responsible for all Cisco business relationships with the major telcos in Europe.

In his current position, Mr. Chaviv has rebuilt the access division into a company with fully functioning finance, operations, business development, and sales capabilities (which did not exist or partially existed in the Business Unit form of the group). Through 2001, he built a strong management team and, through a concerted team effort, managed to meet the company's sales target, reduced its inventories by 30%, improved its gross margin by 30% while reducing headcount by 20%.

Mr. Engler is responsible for all R&D, product management, and business strategy for Lucent's Broadband Access Product Group. This group consists of the following product lines: Stinger, which includes state-of-the-art multiservices DSLAMs and micro-remote terminals; AnyMedia, which includes advanced multiservices DLCs and optical network units; and CellPipe, which includes a complete line of CPE and IAD equipment.
Michael Rahier Michel Rahier

Mr. Rahier became the president of the broadband networking division within Alcatel Telecom in November 2001. Prior to his current position, he was chief operating officer and then president of the mobile networks division. Throughout the 1990's he was technical director for several Alcatel Business Divisions with worldwide development responsibility including PABX, public switching, broadband communication, and intelligent networks.

Siemens AG

Dr. Ulrich Schoen is responsible for the Broadband Access, Access Networks, and Radio Networks divisions. He is also chairman of the board of directors of Seabridge Networks, a Siemens AG subsidiary. He was named to this position in October 2000. Dr. Schoen joined Siemens AG in 1985 in the Public Telecommunications business division.
