NCF 2000 Wrap-Up
NCF 2000-A Place to Envision the New World of Communications
Thousands of industry professionals gathered at this year's National Communications Forum 2000 to discuss the most significant developments and technology advances across the major sectors of the information industry.
Providing four days of solid educational programming with over 60 sessions and full-day TecForums, it is no wonder NCF remains the industry's premier educational event.
Conference chairperson and plenary speaker, Peter V. Lessek, Vice President of Research and Development at Lucent Technologies, led a panel of experts on "NGN—New Players and New Models" for a comprehensive discussion on delivering services effectively and profitably.
During a special plenary panel on "The Future Network—How Do We Get There?," Joseph J. Bonocore, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Eclipse Networks, along with fellow industry luminaries, discussed the key technological developments that are leading the industry to the networks of tomorrow.
Conferees also gave their full attention to keynote presentations by Thomas Richards, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Clear Communications; Frank A. D'Amelio, Group President of Switching Solutions Group at Lucent Technologies; and Gary A. Cohen, Co-Chief Operating Officer at Global Crossing Ltd.
Seminars and TecForums were an astounding success. Topics of great interest included IP networks, wireless, emerging access architecture, global perspectives, future of broadband technologies, and DWDM.
NCF 2000 drew a wide variety of international attendees from Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

Executive Program at NCF 2000
NCF 2000 offered an entire day of educational programming where senior-level executives gathered to discuss the future direction of the telecommunications industry. This invitation-only program featured an Executive Workshop tailored to senior executives of today's leading organizations. Industry leaders had an extraordinary opportunity to interact and network with other distinguished colleagues during the Executive Workshop and private reception exclusive to attendees of this special NCF 2000 program.
This Executive Advisory Committee workshop—The ASP Model and Its Implications for Communications Service Providers—examined the ways in which the ASP model can give NSPs the flexibility to use OSS on a pay-per-use basis and offer their own customers the applications that enable a new e-business environment. Other Executive Program workshops included Internet Futures and Directions and Disruptive Internet Technology for Emerging Broadband Carriers.
